Description: Join us for a one night and two day backpack to North and South Kinsman, two of New Hampshire’s 4000 footers! The total distance will be 9.1 miles, with around 3300 feet of elevation gain. This trip is suitable for experienced as well as new and beginner backpackers, and will include plenty of instruction and tips.
Day one we will hike up to Kinsman Pond, where we will leave our overnight gear before summiting North and South Kinsman. We will then return to the campsite and enjoy our evening. You can expect mountain lakes, mud, beautiful views (weather permitting), some steep hiking, and lots of fun!
Day two we will pack up camp and hike back down the mountain the way we came.
This trip will include some scrambles and exposure as well as wet and uneven footing. As this hike is intended for participants with a range of backpacking experience, we will be hiking as a group in a pace-inclusive manner. Participants should have experience with day hikes of similar distance and elevation gain.
Required gear includes: 10 Essentials Backpack Sturdy hiking footwear Backpacking tent Sleeping bag Sleeping pad Hiking and camp clothes Headlamp Stove + fuel Cook kit 2+ liters of water Water purification system Food (lunch and dinner day 1, breakfast day 2, snacks)
There is a $15 cash charge per person for Kinsman Pond Shelter / tent site. If heavy rain or other significant inclement weather is predicted as of Friday the 28th, the trip may be canceled or adjusted.
