Description: This hike is a moderately fast loop of Straightback Mountain, Mount Major, East and West Quarry Mountains and Mount Anna, a total of approximately 8 miles and 2400 feet of elevation gain. Our intended route will ascend quickly and then traverse the peaks at elevation with good water and mountain views along the way. We'll break for lunch and expect to be out on trail approximately 6 hours. Terrain will include dirt-packed rock-strewn trails, rocky ledges, and scrambles. Given the late October date, all participants will need to be prepared for early snow or icy conditions. Hiking poles, microspikes, headlamp, waterproof jacket and pants, warm hat, gloves, and extra thermal layers top and bottom are required for all participants. Leaders will monitor weather conditions and will update participants of any changes to gear requirements.
