About us
The so-called "gray divorce" in midlife can be an emotional, pivotal, and powerful point in someone's life. At times, it can also feel overwhelming. Structured thinking, helpful information, regulated emotions, and confidence are crucial to making good decisions along the way in order to re-invent a future aligned with values and priorities in focus.
This group is for women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and older who are thinking about divorce, or who are already in the early or middle stages of a divorce after a long-term marriage, and who want to gain valuable information and find community by interacting in a supportive environment with others going through the same thing.
This virtual group is geared toward women in the Boston / South Shore area but is open to any geographic location because we meet virtually. Through 75 and 90 minute online discussion groups and workshops, Kristen M. Ploetz, a DCA Certified Pre-Mediation Divorce Coach/CDC Certified Divorce Coach, will facilitate and moderate discussions focused around specific themes relevant to gray divorce. Most workshops/discussion groups will be free of charge. Some anticipated events include:
-
talking about how to find the right divorce professionals and what important information to gather and organize ahead of time
-
thinking about what to consider while pivoting away from unmet plans and expectations
-
discussing the simultaneous emotional overwhelm that comes with change/transitions, re-entering the workforce, adjusting caretaking roles, going through menopause, etc.
-
thinking about the potential impacts on adult children of divorce
-
identifying healthy communication strategies with a co-parent/ex-spouse
-
writing-based workshops to explore and share what going through divorce feels like
While this group is geared toward individuals aged 45+ and in marriages of 15+ years, all are welcome. This group also welcomes those from heterosexual and LGBTQ marriages alike. To protect privacy, participants in online workshops do not have to share their full name on-screen. The moderator/facilitator of this group will NOT be providing legal advice during workshops and discussions, and it is geared to be informational, educational, and supportive in nature only.
