Birthday Trivia & Farewell to Fred

This is a special trivia event x 2! The week before this Meetup was Mike’s birthday. For those who don’t know him he recently has been the most regular attendee (besides me), is great at trivia and a really nice guy. We will celebrate; I’ll bring cake for all who attend.

Also Fred, the trivia jockey at The Burren is moving out of state. This will be his last week. For everyone, especially those who know him, let’s send him off with a big showing. The cake will also be in recognition of him.

The Burren is an Irish Pub in Davis Square. It has an excellent beer selection, better food than most Irish pubs, and great vegetarian & vegan options! Your diversity of knowledge will enable an enjoyable evening for all. As we play trivia this diversity also makes for fun and interesting conversations.

Trivia scoring is wireless; answer slips are so 2010s! It is helpful to take notes of upcoming categories; both to discuss answers with team members and also to decide how many points to bet. Some people prefer to use the notepad on their phone; some people prefer to use pen & paper; bring your choice. Please arrive by 7:15 to eat, drink, and socialize; we might not be able to hold a seat after that. The Burren will not give us individual checks so please be prepared to pay by Zelle, PayPal, CashApp, or cash; not Venmo. If your plans change please update your RSVP. It is both difficult and socially awkward to try to hold seats for people who may or may not materialize. Have fun putting your random knowledge to work!

Trivia: A restaurant menu is usually the dirtiest thing in a restaurant. Please wash your hands after ordering. It’s good practice to do that even if you don’t use the plastic menu.

For those driving, if there are no meters in front, try the municipal lot on Holland St. or further up Holland Street.
