A unique opportunity to view this newly opened exhibition, first hosted by the Tate Gallery in London, with me, a London based art historian!
Turner is known for his ground breaking painting techniques which allowed him to express the power of nature like no other artist before him. But as this exhibition shows, he was also deeply in tune with the modern social, economic and historical developments of his day.
To what extent does he admire or criticise such contemporary phenomena as the industrial revolution in Britain, the slave trade and the wars with France ? My tour will provide some of the answers and encourage exchange of ideas.
Please bear in mind that there is a charge of $7 for exhibition entry on top and of course the price of general admission ticket but between myself and members of MFA attending we can get at least 3 people in without the general admission charge, or for just $5. ( +$7 for exhibition + $10 for the tour ) Please come a few minutes before 6 so we can sort all that out together.
