Details

Please RSVP ahead of time so we can get an accurate count on coffee.

Everybody will check in at the ground floor security desk before heading up to the 5th floor. Please bring a government-issued ID for check-in.

Code and Coffee is an inclusive, informal co-working session. People of all skill levels attend, and we love it that way. Some people (optionally) bring projects to work on, and some come and (also optionally) socialize the entire time. We encourage everyone to attend our variety of workshops and events we host each meetup, but it's entirely up to you to just come in and hangout!

Where’s My Tribe: Gamifying Real-World Social Discovery

Many social apps try to bring strangers together through dinners and events, but often fall short of their purpose as the settings can be expensive, inconvenient, or too loud for meaningful conversation. Where’s My Tribe is a proximity-based app and social experiment designed to help people find others who are open to connection in real-world third spaces. Rather than relying on profiles, photos, or messages, it shares with others only simple declarations of interest: the “ping.”
Part scavenger hunt and part social game, Where’s My Tribe asks what’s possible when digital technology minimizes information and forces real-world interaction. The talk will explore the motivation behind the app, the design constraints of creating social interaction without traditional communication, and the broader question of how people can signal openness to connection in public life.

The Intro Circle

Near the beginning of the event (12:30 pm), we do a standup in a circle:

  • We first announce organizer announcements, updates, and logistics

Round 1 - (7 secs max):

  • Your name
  • What you can help others with
  • What you would like help with
  • Job opportunities you're hiring for

Round 2:

  • Community events you wanna plug. If none, that's cool too.

After the introduction circle, everything is self-organized. We sometimes have FEATURES in a nearby room; checkout those events on Meetup as well.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Community Discord - come hang out before and after!:

We will be looking to take photos during the meet up. Let one of the organizers know if you would rather we not include you in the photos.
