BCBB January Speaker Event
Details
Excited to announce our speakers for the event:
Building a National-Scale Cancer Genomics Cloud
Gaurav Kaushik, PhD, will discuss the motivation, inception, and deployment of the Cancer Genomics Cloud (CGC), built by SevenBridges and funded by the National Cancer Institute. CGC hosts The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), one of the world's largest cancer genomics data collections, and provides computational resources and optimized, portable bioinformatics tools to analyze it— at any scale, immediately, collaboratively, and reproducibly. Using Docker and the Common Workflow Language, it is also possible to port any tool of your liking to the CGC -- where you have access to free computational credits and more than a petabyte of genomic data to analyze.
Career Networking Panel
We will be doing a Q&A with a diverse group of leaders in the Boston bioinformatics community to gain an understanding of what they are looking for when hiring bioinformaticians.
Including:
John Keilty of Third Rock Ventures
Andrew Gruen, PhD of SevenBridges
Katrina Steiling, MD Boston University School of Medicine
Chris Roberts, PhD of Biogen
Matthew Eaton, PhD of Syros Pharmaceuticals
Moderated by: Danielle Greenawalt, PhD of AstraZeneca
Thank you to our sponsor Seven Bridges for helping to make this event possible https://www.sbgenomics.com/
Seven Bridges is the cloud-powered platform for population-scale bioinformatics. The world’s largest research institutions — including the governments of the U.S. and UK — use Seven Bridges’ software to help them analyze, store, and act on genomic and other biological data.
