Details

On August 24th at 6pm, join your BCBB friends and enjoy the glorious Massachusetts summer weather. Meet other folks in your field or catch up with old friends.

We'll be comparing notes over drinks and free food at the Fresh Pond Beer Garden, a great outdoor location with (gasp) easy parking, a short walk from Alewife Station on the red line.

Amber Biology has provided us with a selection of free finger food for the event, and the Amber Biology partners Gordon Webster and Alex Lancaster will be attending this meeting so please come on over and say hi.

All computational biologists and bioinformaticians are welcome regardless of skill level, from lifelong hardcore professionals and academics to people who are starting to think about learning just enough programming to make science go faster. See old friends, mentors, students, and make new connections while sharing tales of compbio triumph and woe over free drinks and food.

Look for a roped-off area full of nerdy-yet-friendly people.

About Amber Biology (https://amberbiology.com/)

Based in Cambridge MA, Amber Biology has been working at the intersection of life science and computation for more than ten years. Amber Biology helps its clients transform their data into insight through the application of computational approaches ranging from the development of custom algorithms and software for exploring their research data in new ways - to the advanced, causal modeling and simulation of the complex systems that they are studying in the lab.

As scientists and researchers themselves, their understanding of the challenging, iterative, and nonlinear nature of research and development has been gained from decades of experience solving real-world research problems in academic and commercial environments ranging from universities and medical schools, to small venture capital-funded startups and global pharmaceutical companies.

Amber Biology’s clients include major research universities on both U.S. coasts, and commercial life science companies based in the U.S. and in Europe - with projects ranging from forensic genomic analysis for gene therapy applications, to rule-based stochastic modeling of the immune system in the development of therapies for autoimmune disease. Amber Biology was also a contractor on the NASA Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) mission that was launched from Cape Canaveral in early 2018.

Gordon and Alex will be there - so come and say hi.
