Hi all,

I'm going to restart this group with something a bit unique in the data science realm, GIS (geographical information system) analysis. We're going to determine which intersections in Boston are the most dangerous for cyclists (injuries, hospitalizations, getting doored, etc), explore why, and cover how to access and process data like this.

The photo for this event shows part of what we'll accomplish, a heatmap of bicycle accidents by intersection.

This demo will be interactive, but will move quickly so it won't be at the pace of a tutorial. Instead you can find great tutorials on the tool we'll be using, QGIS at https://www.qgistutorials.com/en/ and can even one that gets quite close to the task at hand: https://www.qgistutorials.com/en/docs/3/creating_heatmaps.html

Help us decide what topics to cover next time: https://bit.ly/3zZH1yg
