The Social...Dilemma?

Details

Instead of being on social media for 2 hours, let’s talk about social media for 2 hours! More specifically- the intended, and unintended, outcomes of releasing a free-to-use service that connects to anyone around the world with an internet connection. We’ll be asking questions like:
What can social media do, what should it do?

Are there human needs that social media can fulfill?

Should we worry about social media overcoming human weaknesses?

How did we get to the physical and digital social environment we have today?

We will be introducing themes from the 2020 Netflix documentary, “The Social Dilemma.” It is totally cool to come into the night not having seen the film, but we highly recommend watching it at some point. By the end of the session, we will have touched on journey mapping, scaling problems, reframing, ideation, prototyping, and testing. Regardless of the scale of the solutions we create this evening, we plan on everyone leaving the session with direct, actionable steps they can take towards their team’s solutions.

Zoom links will be sent to participants who respond that they are “attending.” BYOB, as if there were any other way right now. Pants optional if your bottom half isn't even visible on the screen!
