Boston Hardware Meetup #40 @ REEKON: Crowdfunding, Hardware PMing, Firmware Dev
Details
We're back for another in-person Boston Hardware Meetup, this time at REEKON Tools. Founded by our very own Christian Reed, REEKON is leading the next wave of power and measurement tool innovation by integrating modern advances in technologies, materials and processes with traditional fabrication tools in order to deliver order of magnitude improvements to professionals in regards to speed, functionality, safety, and/or workflows.
If you can't join us in person, we'll be livestreaming the event on Zoom. Join us at 6pm EST!
Agenda
6:00pm: Arrive, mingle, grab some food and a beverage
6:30pm: Opening remarks
6:40pm: Christian Reed, CEO of REEKON Tools. Christian will dive into the inner workings of what it takes to run multi-million dollar crowdfunding campaigns. Crowdfunding, while not the right strategy for every company, offers significant benefits for capital heavy hardware startups looking to kickstart their manufacturing journey to launching a new product. With tens of thousands of tools on construction sites and home improvement projects around the world, REEKON is digitizing and connecting together the jobsite by reimaging hardware and software solutions to enable workers everywhere.
7:10pm: Sam Feller, Hardware PM. Sam believes passionately that good technique and process can make teams more productive and effective with less stress. He specializes in helping early growth stage companies (around 20-30 employees) develop the organizational process and reporting tools to scale. He was previously a Senior Technical Program Manager for Amazon and has worked at companies from pre-seed to growth stage. Sam will share his core philosophies on running a cross disciplinary hardware project.
7:40pm: Chris Coleman, Co-Founder and CTO of Memfault. Prior to founding Memfault, Chris was an embedded software engineer at Pebble and Fitbit where he led efforts across the firmware stack and developed a reputation for tracking down and fixing challenging firmware bugs. That coupled with his passion for using tooling to efficiently deliver high-quality hardware products drove him to start Memfault. Chris will talk about how to do embedded software deployments right.
8:10pm: Open Mic. Anyone in attendance can give a demo or short presentation on their hardware product, startup, or project.
9:00pm: Mix, mingle, and close out the night.
See you soon!
