Brunch & Discuss Short Film, "Anuja," at Masala Buffet

Details
This event is currently full and RSVP's are closed, as seating is limited to 8 at Masala Buffet's large table. If you RSVP'd yes, and can no longer make it, please DM me so I can change your RSVP. 🙏
Please join us for brunch at Masala Buffet in Teele Square, and to discuss the short (22-minute) Oscar-nominated film, "Anuja," available on Netflix. The Meetup will be conducted in Hindi, Urdu, Urdu-Hindi, Hinglish, and Urdlish. If you can have a basic film discussion in any of those languages, with a little help as necessary, please feel free to join us.
Though "Anuja" is short, it has some interesting film and literary references that add depth to the story. At the beginning of the film, the older sister recounts the Panchatantra story sometimes called "The Faithful Mongoose." What do you think this story might mean in the context of the film?
Later on, the two sisters go to see a classic movie, "Naya Daur." Wikipedia article here. The full movie is available on YouTube here and the song they show from that movie is “Udein Jab Jab Zulfen Teri."
In the context of "Anuja," how do you think we should we interpret the "Naya Daur" film reference?
At the end of the film, there's a closeup of the older sister's finger, which she accidentally pricks with a needle. What do you think this might represent?
If you're looking for interesting reviews of the film, below are links for two reviews with differing perspectives. They do have spoilers, so you may want to watch the movie before reading.
