Discuss 'Meri Zindagi Hai Tu' and 'Mein Shair To Nahin'

At this online event we will discuss two romantic compositions, a contemporary one from Pakistan (Meri Zindagi Hai Tu), and an older one from India (Mein Shair To Nahin).

'Mein Shair To Nahin' is sung by Shailendra Singh, with lyrics by Anand Bakshi, and is from the 1973 Bollywood film 'Bobby', Listen to it at

Separated by 50 years the songs belong to very different musical genres, with Asim Azhar's newer composition mixing a very modern stylised rendition with references to a much older qawwali form. Yet, Shailendra broke the mould somewhat with his unique vocal style in the 70s.
