New Meetup: Carson Beach/Castle Island skate, South Boston

Announcing a new Meetup for Boston Inline Skating and Blading!

What: Carson Beach/Castle Island skate, South Boston

When: September 21,[masked]:00 PM

Meetup Description: I tried this location a couple of months ago on a weeknight, but cancelled because it was even hard for me to get to after work. It's fun to skate along the beach so I thought I try again. Carson Beach is in South Boston. If you follow the along the whole way down, you pass M Street Beach and then reach Castle Island Beach and Fort. Let's start at the Carson Beach end because it is accessible by public transportation. You can get off the JFK/UMass stop on the redline and just walk over or there are two parking lots so you can drive over too. The trail is cement sidewalks as opposed to a paved trail. I did once find a paved trail that led behind the Bayside Convention Center and Columbia Point, but it wasn't paved well and was really lumpy. There's food and ice cream at both ends. We don't need to go all the way to Castle Island (not an island by the way) and can turn around whenever.

The address above is for the State Police headquarters which are right before the bathouses. After the State Police is a driveway to Bayside, then a parking lot, then the two brick buildings in the photo above and then another parking lot. I'll post a Meetup sign on the sign in the picture above that says "McCormack Bath House". I'll either be right there or in the covered sitting area behind it putting on my skates. As long as the Meetup sign is there, I'm around. If the weather is bad, I will cancel and reschedule.
