Upgrade your development workflow with runtime code maps

Details

Workshop Description:

As developers, it often feels like all of our time is spent wading through huge file trees, fixing failing test cases, waiting for code reviews and having meetings. What we want is a smooth flow for understanding what code actually does, which code is relevant to what we’re doing, and we want to be able to share as much knowledge as possible with the people we work with. In this workshop, I’ll demo how autogenerated, interactive code maps can improve dev communication, collaboration and productivity. I’ll show you how to use AppMap, a free, open source framework that “drives the back roads” of your Java app, records code execution into JSON files, and generates interactive diagrams and useful code analysis -- right in your code editor. I’ll also show how to use AppMaps to enhance code issues and merge requests; thereby lightening the load of code review, and helping you deliver better software faster.

Workshop Presenter :

Kevin Gilpin is a CTO and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in fields such as developer tools, cybersecurity, healthcare, automotive, logistics and life sciences. He’s a founder of AppLand, an open source company that helps developers and their organizations keep their software aligned, clear and secure through software design observability and interactive code analysis. Previously, Kevin was a founder and CTO of DevSecOps startup Conjur (acquired by CyberArk).
