Akamai's NOC tour

The Akamai Intelligent platform manages the underlying complexities of the online business, from device and format proliferation, to application and network security, to performance and reliability issues, so that customers don’t have to. The Platform is made up of over 120,000 servers, deployed in over 75 countries and spanning the most important networks within the Internet, a single network hop away from 90% of Internet users. These servers are all controlled by Akamai software that is constantly monitoring Internet conditions, which allows the platform to:

Following the tour will be an introduction as to how we use Java to help manage and monitor Internet traffic at the rate of 10 Terabytes per second, followed by the main presentation of “Java and the Cloud”.
