1. SPIFFE without SPIRE: Practical Workload Identity with Teleport in Kubernetes, with Paul Curtis
Workload identity is a foundational building block for zero trust security, but adopting SPIFFE in Kubernetes often means embracing the operational complexity of SPIRE. What if you could get the benefits of SPIFFE—secure, cryptographically verifiable identities for workloads—without the burden of deploying and operating SPIRE?
2. Course Feedback AI: Kubernetes-Native RAG System with Jay Gala and Karan Thakkar
This Kubernetes-native system replaces manual PDF analysis with an intelligent Q&A interface, utilizing a multi-cloud architecture on AWS and GCP. Built with Go and Terraform, it orchestrates a secure RAG pipeline using Kafka for asynchronous processing and Istio for traffic management, delivering accurate insights via Google Gemini.
Jay Gala and Karan Thakkar are long-time members of this group. They completed a project last year and will present what they learned about AI and real-world applications.
3. Learning AI skills with Open WebUI
I've recently created a demo to show some basics of K8s + AI to peer engineers, as well as some fun AI security testing. I will run through this with everyone. There's lots of little tips along the way to building this out, but I've documented every single one of them. So if you've never used Open WebUI I think you'll get something out of this, and even AI and K8s pros might learn something new.
