Boston Men's Plunge (Every Saturday at 10am)
Details
LOCATION:
It's super simple, just come meet us at M Street Beach in Boston at 10am (input "M Street Beach" into Apple Maps or Google Maps). There's lots of street parking right next to the beach.
AGENDA:
We usually talk on the beach for a few minutes and then wade into the ocean. No pressure at all to remain in water any length of time. Submerge halfway, stay in for one second, whatever you want to do. It takes time for body and mind to acclimate to winter water. Don't put pressure on yourself, just feel good about doing something difficult, getting out in nature, and building self-discipline.
WHAT TO BRING:
1. TOWEL (or 2 if you want to dry off faster)
2. WINTER COAT is important for staying warm before plunge and after.
3. CAR afterwards is a must. It's too cold to walk or bike afterwards. Drive or carpool.
4. SWIM TRUNKS or gym shorts (polyester). If you wear cotton underwear it will stay cold and wet after plunge.
5. GLOVES are important for before and after. Make sure to dry hands before putting gloves back on afterwards.
6. HAT is helpful for staying warm before plunge (and if not dunking head can leave on while in water).
7. WATER SHOES of some kind (slides, flip-flops, closed-toe) are helpful but not necessary.
DISCLAIMER:
This is an informal, unsupervised gathering. Each man is fully responsible
for his own choices. Cold water carries real risks. Know your limits and use
judgment.
