Beyond Chatbots - What's so different about AI Agents?

Abstract:
Everyone has played with the AI chatbots by this point and maybe you've even built one. But what's the difference - architecturally - between an AI chatbot and an AI Agent?

The point of this talk is to examine that difference.

We will look at what happens when you give your AI a goal and some tools and let it handle a task. We'll see how that is possible with current AI architectures.

By the end of this talk, you'll understand how to approach building goal-driven (Agent-like) AI solutions and (hopefully!) be inspired to apply these techniques to your own projects.

This talk assumes user-level familiarity with LLMs like ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot and basic prompt engineering concepts. Anything else will be explained.
