Details

The Apology and the Crito are very short. In addition to the Phaedo, the 3 works are about the same length as the Gorgias. They are all so closely connected and short it makes the most sense for our purposes to approach them all at once.

The Apology shows Socrates' defense in front of the Athenian court, which seeks to put him to death for corrupting the youth.

The Crito is a discussion Socrates has with his friend Crito while awaiting execution.

The Phaedo is a recounting of Socrates' final moments told by Phaedo.
