Optimizing Postgres for high volume write workloads.
Details
On January 21st 2026, we will have a special treat, local members of our Meetup group will be talking about their real world experiences in dealing with high volume write workloads for Postgres.
This meetup will be held at Amazon's offices in the Boston Seaport District.
YOU MUST REGISTER BEFORE January 19th to attend this Meetup.
Here is the abstract for the topic and brief bios on our speakers.
Optimizing large, write-intensive PostgreSQL databases in production is challenging, and so is vertically scaling clusters without rapidly increasing costs. At Datadog, we operate a number of terabyte-scale PostgreSQL clusters, making it crucial to balance performance, reliability, and cost.
In this talk we'll focus on,
1. How Datadog manages PostgreSQL on Kubernetes at scale.
2. How we ingest tens of thousands of cloud resource updates per second.
3. What techniques we used to improve read and write performance.
Shree Sampath is a Senior Engineer at Datadog, working on the Infrastructure team and focusing on ensuring the reliability and scalability of PostgreSQL databases that supports several of Datadog’s products.
Greg Daneault is a senior engineer on one of Datadog's platform teams. He runs the ingestion, query, and management apps for Datadog's PostgreSQL-backed cloud resource catalog.
