African Street Food, Photography, and Dialogue
Join chef Cecelia Lizotte, founder of Nigerian Restaurant Suya Joint, and photographers Cheryl Miller, Marilyn Nance, OJ Slaughter and Dr Jovonna Jones, Assistant Professor, English and African & African Diaspora Studies at Boston College for a memorable event of intriguing dialogue and vegan African cuisine. Hosted in conjunction with Beacon Gallery, the photographers and moderator Dr. Jones will discuss their art and invite us to explore how we memorialize the past, document the present, and create our future.

RSVP and ticket purchase: $64 (a portion of the ticket is tax deductible). Tickets must be purchased online before the event. No access to event without a ticket.

Menu:
o Moi Moi - Bean cake (almost a pudding consistency) made from black eyed peas blended with peppers and onions.
o Samosa - Traditional savory pastry stuffed with potatoes and vegetables, popular in Africa, Middle East, and South Asia, and each region has unique flavors.
o Spring Rolls - Spicy and delicious, a favorite and essential Nigerian appetizer. They are super crunchy, crispy and flavorful with savory vegetable filling
o Akara - A very popular street snack. It's fluffy, delicious and totally vegan bean fritter made with brown beans blended with fresh pepper, onions and salt
o Dessert: Puff Puff - A very popular West African street food that’s dangerously delicious and addicting made with flour sugar deep fried with coconut flakes on top
o Drink: Bilbao is a delicious and natural hibiscous drink
