Our Speaker will be Carol Albright - author, journalist and educator
Carole will speak about two of her novels. The first, Hold up the Head of Holofernes is about three women over the course of history who experienced incidents of devastating sexual trauma yet managed to rebuild their lives in extraordinary, powerful and and creative ways. Carol will talk about how she came to write Hold Up the Head of Holofernes, The title comes from a Biblical story and refers to the severed head of an Assyrian General beheaded by an Israelite Women in order to save her city. Carol will talk about how it came to be published as well as her writing style. She will read some passages from the novel. The second of Carol's novels, the soon to be published The Magician's Sleeve, is about Italy's Mussolini including his urging Italians to colonize Libya.
Carol started her writing career as a journalist writing book reviews for the Providence (Rhode Island) Journal. She has co-edited four anthologies, written a memoir, and has had part of that memoir translated and published in Italy. Carol also wrote as an Information Specialist with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management. Later in her career she taught Italian-American Studies at Harvard University Extension School

There are two choices for dinner: A many(!) course Italian dinner at $36.00 or a pizza, appetizer, salad and desert dinner at $24.00. (The pizza is real authentic Italian pizza!) (tip included!) Or you can join the club and pay less per dinner! Or you can just attend the lecture!
