Jamaica Pond & Olmsted Park

Thursday is forecast to be the warmest day we will get for a while, so come out and enjoy the mild temperatures!

Part of Boston's emerald necklace, Jamaica Pond is a pure, glacial kettle hole, and captivated Olmsted with its “great beauty in reflections and flickering half-lights.” The largest standing body of water in the Emerald Necklace, it needed few alterations to highlight its natural beauty. Olmsted preserved much of the existing vegetation and framed the pond with new trees, shrubs and paths.

We will do the 1.5 mile loop around the pond and some adjoing trails down to Leverett Pond.
