Presentation 1: Building Custom Blocks with block.json, wp-scripts, and create-block

Kevin Fodness is a partner and the Vice President of Software Development at Alley. Kevin leads Alley's mentorship program, develops standards and best practices for the development team, and coordinates professional development activities around emerging technologies. Kevin has built websites, APIs, and data visualizations for KFF, Brookings, and the National Science Foundation, as well as CMS re-platforming and data migration for [People.com](http://people.com/) and [EW.com](http://ew.com/). Kevin is also the lead developer for the Publish to Apple News WordPress plugin. Additionally, Kevin is a WordPress core contributor and has given several talks about WordPress and accessibility at various meetups and conferences catering to the WordPress community, publishers, and higher ed.

Kevin holds a PhD in Science and Technology Studies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he authored a dissertation on web accessibility. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, reading, kayaking, snowboarding, mountain biking, and taking the occasional cross-country road trip with his wife and four children. He is based in the Lake George area of upstate New York.
