Focused Conversation for Documentarians: Navigating the feast or famine cycle

Details
Join us for a focused and friendly conversation about the cycle of feast and famine. We’ve all been there. Some weeks are packed full of meetings and looming project deadlines. These feast periods are professionally fulfilling, but also tiring! Famine periods, on the other hand, can lead to boredom and self-doubt. As technical writers, how can we navigate this roller coaster of feast and famine without losing our motivation (and our sanity)? Let’s discuss.
Here are a few questions to start the discussion:
- How do you manage your workload during feast periods? Have you ever experienced burnout? How did you recover?
- How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance during feast and famine periods?
- How do you stay motivated during famine periods? How do you occupy your time?
- How can you better anticipate a feast or famine period? What preparations can you make in advance?
- How have you communicated your workload to your colleagues and supervisors? Are they aware of any fluctuations in your workload? What have they done about it?
Bring your thoughts and questions, and attend for as long as your schedule allows. Our goal is to give you an opportunity to support and network with each other.
The discussion is on Zoom. We’ll post the links on the Meetup event by the previous evening. To attend, you must RSVP to the Meetup event. We use the attendees list to screen out Zoom bombers, so it's especially helpful if you have the same display name in Zoom as your name on Meetup.
