Interpersonal Communications

Details
Getting good information is essential to creating good documentation, and a lot of that information comes from other people. Whether we’re asking a product manager what features are in the next release or learning how to use a new product from a developer, we spend much of our time communicating with others—who often don’t have excellent communication skills themselves. Let’s explore this topic together.
- What are the biggest challenges you’ve faced with interpersonal communications?
- Are there issues that are unique to or especially prevalent in the tech sector?
- What has been the impact of communications failures, either in your work or in your company more broadly?
- How about success stories? What strategies have helped the most?
- How does your approach vary by communication method (e.g., in person, e-mail, private chat, shared chat, video call, etc.)?
- Do you have any resources to share?
