Ryan Canulla, Senior Principal Software Engineer at CarGurus: "From Monolith to Modular: Automating the Migration of 15,000+ Files with Node.js."

Breaking up a monolith is no small feat, but at CarGurus, we made it scalable by automating the hardest parts. In this session, we’ll share how we used Node.js to create custom tools that automated the migration of over 15,000 files. Our approach not only simplified monorepo decomposition but continues to empower teams to manage and scale modular codebases for lasting success.

Ryan is a technical leader with deep expertise in enterprise software development, specializing in the HTML/JavaScript stack. Proficient in Node.js and React, he provides architectural direction and mentors engineering teams to deliver clean, scalable, and efficient solutions. Previously, Ryan served as an architect at Digitas and Universal Mind, working with major clients such as American Express, P&G, Aflac, Gordon Food Service, FICO, and HP.
