Stop The Slop -- Improving Our Use Of AI
Details
AI isn’t making startups worse.
People are.
If you’ve seen one more “AI-generated insight” that says everything and commits to nothing, this session is for you.
We’re calling this Stop The Slop because too much of what passes for “AI thinking” right now is just dressed-up avoidance.
Long prompts.
Longer outputs.
Zero decisions.
The result?
Smart-sounding documents that don’t move a product, a customer, or a dollar.
In this BNT AI meetup, we’re going to talk candidly about how AI actually gets misused in real startup environments:
Turning models into fog machines instead of mirrors.
- Confusing synthesis with accumulation
- Letting AI write what humans are afraid or unable to express
- Hiding behind frameworks when traction is missing
We’ll also talk about what good use looks like. Not demos. Not hype. Not “AI will fix it.”
Real use:
- Using AI to compress thinking, not expand it
- Forcing clarity instead of multiplying options
- Writing things you’re willing to be wrong about
- Building momentum instead of something worse than endless meetings (I know, right?)
This is not an “AI 101” session.
It’s also not a sales pitch, a tool roundup, or a thought-leadership parade.
It is a space for builders who:
- Can tell the difference between signal and sludge
- Care more about outcomes than output volume
- Are tired of pretending slop equals intelligence
- Expect sharp opinions, a little sarcasm, and an open discussion.
No slides required. No frameworks harmed.
Bring your skepticism.
Bring your best examples of AI misuse.
Bring your standards.
Hosted by: Boston New Technology – AI Meetup
Format: Short provocation + open, unscripted discussion
If nothing else, you’ll leave with fewer words—and better ones.
