White Mountains Foliage Sunrise

Details

The Fall Foliage Network suggests next weekend could be a winner in the Whites. Let's meet at the Rocky Gorge parking area off the Kancamagus Hwy to shoot the pond and falls. We'll move on to the Albany Covered Bridge then backtrack to take the beautiful Bear Notch Road to Rte 302 where we'll head north through Crawford Notch State Park, past Frankenstein Cliff towards Bretton Woods with a detour down Mt. Clinton Road if conditions warrant. We'll return via Daniel Webster Hwy to 93 south.

I expect this route to take us past noon depending on the photo ops/stops so we should avoid any crazy return traffic. At that time of the morning the trip from Boston to Rocky Gorge should take about 2 1/2 hours, give or take.

Gear: Everything from wide to tele can be useful for foliage. You'll want a tripod for the sunrise shoot and I find it can be useful later in the day to help refine compositions. Don't forget your circular polarizer to reduce glare and make those colors pop while a ND filter can be handy for waterfalls.
