This parade is a perennial favorite for good reason. I think it's best described as a leftist marching band/street performance convention, with colorful, interesting folks from all over the planet playing for the people in costume and with real style. Lets meet up at the marshaling point, 2 parking lots on Herbert St. 1 block behind Elm St. where you can get some great candid options, or even staged compositions, before they start the actual parade. Elm St. is also a fine spot to catch them in full, marching band mode. The crowd and parade participants are invariably high energy and friendly and the event is a pleasure to shoot. The parade starts at noon so this should give us plenty of time to catch the tribes gathering and dressing in their traditional garb.

Gear: most of this is going to be relatively close up (across a street distance max) so you don't really need the long glass but I don't want to constrain anyone's creative juices here. A wide angle and a circular polarizer (but not at the same time!) would be nice if it's sunny, as would an off camera flash if you have one to tame those raccoon shadows. A true fall favorite!
