Harvard Yard and environs is a great place for fall foliage, from the Japanese maple in the courtyard of Pusey Library (shown above) to the Radcliffe Sunken Garden a few blocks away. Tripods are not allowed in Harvard Yard but there will be some locations where we'll be able to use them as darkness falls (sunset at 5:51), such as the Science Center and Flagstaff Park. While many trees in the Yard were "pre-peak" yesterday I think we'll have better luck with partially turned foliage than to risk the bare branches we're likely to get by waiting until the following weekend.

GEAR: Just about any lens will work for this event, from wide to long. A circular polarizer will come in handy to cut the glare from the leaves and deepen those (hopefully) blue skies.

PARKING: As you might imagine, parking in Harvard Sq. is expensive. For those coming from out of town, you may want to park at Alewife and take the Red Line to Harvard Sq.
