Sunday Assembly in Boston planning

Dear BAers:

Great brunch on Saturday; we raised $100 for ABCD, Inc., and were collectively responsible for at least a dozen excellent conversations.

Looking ahead: You'll all have likely heard or read about President Josiah's vision for the BA -- a weekly service with educational, ethical, and cultural components (read: a talk, some consideration of values, and music); more emphasis on mutual aid; and a physical location (likely in a joint effort with other area secular organizations). Well, one part of that seems to be moving forward at a brisk pace -- the weekly program.

Sunday Assembly is a group that started in the UK, with "atheist" "church" "services" that have attracted a lot of participation and media attention. SA has planned a US tour, and one of the stops will be in Boston. We're a local partner. Whether this is the first session of the Boston Assembly weekly program, conducted as an official local affiliate of Sunday Assembly, or as a joint one-off program of SA working with BA, remains to be seen, and isn't anything that needs to be settled before we pin down plans for this Boston stop on the SA American tour.

Would you like to be part of the planning committee? We'll be meeting some night this week, with a few people outside of the BA who are likewise interested in making this happen. If you're interested in being part of the conversation, email me directly with your email address and I'll see that you get an invitation.

Kind regards,

_ _
