Real-Time Big Data Applications

Details

Interested in building real-time applications for Big Data? If so, come learn about how to use Appscale, Eucalyptus, R, and Apache Accumulo to build powerful, scalable, and secure real-time applications.

You must sign up here to reserve a spot at this event: http://hackreducebigdataapps.eventbrite.com (http://hackreducebigdataapps.eventbrite.com/)

Eucalyptus allows you to build production-ready, AWS-compatible private and hybrid clouds by leveraging your existing virtualized infrastructure to create on-demand cloud resource pools. These highly elastic pools can be dynamically scaled up or down as your application workloads change.

AppScale is an open source runtime system for scalable web and mobile endpoints. AppScale significantly simplifies app implementation and deployment for developers by decoupling apps from the common services modern apps require. Apps access services via well-defined APIs. The AppScale platform implements, configures, deploys, and scales these services along with the apps so developers don’t have to.

Sqrrl enables organizations to build real-time Big Data applications (Big Apps) using a secure, massively scalable data platform powered by Apache Accumulo.

Presenters:

Harold Spencer, Eucalyptus Systems ( http://www.eucalyptus.com )

Harold Spencer, Jr. joined Eucalyptus Systems, Inc. in 2010 as a Technical Support Engineer. Before joining Eucalyptus, he worked at California State University, Northridge for several years, holding various technical positions that included application development, desktop management, systems administration, and computing research analyst. Currently, he is focused on deploying Enterprise Services using cloud computing infrastructures, and identity management in the cloud. His blog - blogs.mindspew-age.com - shares a great deal of his technical works and his interests. His twitter account - hspencer77 - is also another outlet that he uses to share his interests.

Adam Fuchs, sqrrl ( http://www.sqrrl.com )

As the Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Sqrrl, Adam Fuchs is responsible for ensuring that sqrrl is leading the world in Big Data Infrastructure technology. Previously at the National Security Agency, Adam was an innovator and technical director for several database projects, handling some of the world’s largest and most diverse data sets. He is a co-founder of the Apache Accumulo project. Adam has a BS in Computer Science from the University of Washington and has completed extensive graduate-level course work at the University of Maryland.
