Saturation: Choose Your Path
Details
This month’s optional theme is saturation! I'm excited to see how you all bring this concept to life! To keep things fun, flexible, and completely focused on your style, you can choose between two totally different directions for your set list.
If you go with thematic saturation, your set focuses on deep, consuming emotions with songs about obsession. This is a great route to take if you want to bring a gripping, high-intensity story line to the stage. Think of timeless classics from the haunting, unyielding devotion of The Police's Every Breath You Take, to the seductive fixations in Britney Spears's Toxic, and the intense, dramatic passion of Eminem and Rihanna's Love the Way You Lie.
If you choose genre saturation, your performance shifts into an ultimate crowd-pleasing showcase featuring tracks that completely dominated and defined a specific musical genre. This option lets you lean into massive, inescapable hits where a style peaked so heavily on the radio that the whole room instantly knows the lyrics. You can dive into legendary 60s pop sensations with a Beatles masterpiece like "Hey Jude," definitive 70s classic rock landmarks like Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way," synthesizer-driven 80s new wave staples like Tears for Fears' "Everybody Wants to Rule the World," raw 90s grunge anthems like Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit, or massive, modern-day 2010s pop-soul landmarks like Adele's "Rolling in the Deep." Take a look at your set list and pick whichever angle sounds like the most fun for your voice and performance style, but remember that the theme is always optional and you can ultimately sing whatever you like!
Our next online meetup is officially scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM EDT, though we may just keep singing later into the night. The Zoom link will be added directly to this Meetup post on Saturday, so please make sure you are signed into your Meetup account ahead of time since you must be logged in to view and access it. Before the meetup begins, we highly recommend doing a quick tech check to ensure a smooth experience. You can easily set up a temporary room at https://w2g.tv to test your YouTube links and make sure they load properly on the Watch2gether platform.
During the meetup, we will use a combination of Zoom and Watch2gether to play our music, which means you must keep two browser tabs open simultaneously. When it is time to start, click on the Zoom link located to the right of this post to join the live call, and then open a second tab for our official Watch2gether room at https://w2g.tv/rooms/lisaannsbostonkaraokeroom-ksjidlcescv81gxtwy?lang=en. If you are using Watch2gether for your song, simply paste your YouTube link into the Watch2gether chat box located on the lower right side of that window. Alternatively, you can play YouTube links locally on your own computer and sing along that way. If your chosen song is not available in a video format, you can always try it a cappella, which is always a welcome choice. Please feel free to contact me if you need anything at all!
