Details

Balboa Park is home to fig trees from around the world. Learn about the fig family which boasts over 800 species. Fig trees have historically served as national and religious symbols; they are a source of food, medicine, and timber; they are a keystone species supporting entire ecosystems. Flowering trees whose flowers are invisible, each fig species is dependent on its own special pollinator for reproductive survival. [Meet at the Visitor's Center in Balboa Park]
