COHORT (Thursday): Collaborative Resource Building

Details

As owners, Terra Collaborative Founders understand the challenges of market entry in the farming community, especially when starting out alone. As believers in the power of collaboration and the adage "It takes a village" we are excited to invite early-owners, non-profit organizers, and experienced farm workers intending to lease/own land in the next year to our Collaborative Resource Building Cohort.

In this cohort, two groups of participants will collaborate to devise and implement a plan to establish cooperative infrastructure for a chosen Case Study set in Colorado's Front Range. As a unit, participants will learn how to aggregate resources between small farmers, producers, and consumers while building a mock business plan, addressing traditional key challenges such as land access, funding, distribution, and labor support.

Each session will act as a step-by-step guide for participants to learn how to systematically build a collective mission and vision while continuing to establish a legacy model for their partnering collaborators in the years to come.

Terra Collaborative's leadership team will also partner with participants for 1:1 mentoring between meetings. They will review what was discovered in the cohort session and then reflect through a workbook on how these tools can be used within their business planning.

By the end of this cohort, participants will walk away with...

  • Lean strategy & a templated framework to continue to build collectively within their focused communities
  • A completed workbook to implement these practices within their own business
  • Network of like-minded community members they can continue to stay in touch with and leverage as a resource for years to come!
