Berthoud Pass

By Sunday, the snow depth should be 30", so let's kick off the (very late) backcountry season with Berthoud Pass West. We will ski up Mainline to the weather tower, then traverse west slightly. From there, we'll run 400' vertical laps to the northeast in the Meadows area.

All are welcome. This is a great place to learn if you are new to the sport. avi-gear is required. We'll start with a brief beacon drill. No one skis alone.

Please bring a radio if you have one (not required). We will set it to Channel 6 and Interference Eliminator Code 7. There is decent cell service here.

I suggest arriving a bit before 7a - the parking lot fills up fast! Beacon check and cross the road at 7:25a. We will start skinning/hiking up at 7:30a sharp.

After skiing, we'll meet at Empire's Edge Grill and Coffee Bar in Empire for breakfast.
