Run Crosier Mountain
Details
Ok folks, its that time of year where we start to wind things down a little. This Saturday we are heading to Glen Haven, just north of Estes Park, to run the Crosier Mountain Trail.
ROUTE
The trail is only 8 miles (4 up and 4 down), but does have 2200 feet of gain, in case you are worried about not getting a workout. For those of you not interested in pushing it, feel free to hike most of the up, and then run it down. It should take us around 3 hours.
For those of you that still want to keep your mileage up, there are several options to extend. There are technically 3 trails that start from different points and merge close to the top; therefore, I'd recommend starting with the group, then adding an out/back on one of the two other trails for whatever distance you are looking for.
CARPOOL / TRAILHEAD
Options:
- North Foothills Trailhead at 7:30a – At the intersection of Broadway and Hwy 36, head north on 36 a few hundred feet. Turn right onto the dirt road. Trailhead is a little ways down on your left.
- Moxie Bread in Lyons at roughly 7:50a - 442 High St. @ the corner of 36 & High, Lyons, CO.
We will plan to start the run around 8:30a-ish from the middle of Glen Haven. We'll park on the side of the road just south of the Glen Haven General Store (note: it doesn't look like the store will be open this weekend). Afterwards we will plan to eat breakfast in Estes Park, assuming that works for everyone.
CONSIDERATIONS
Dogs are allowed.
