For Saturday's run we'll be doing an end of summer season favorite. We'll be running from the Sandbeach Lake trailhead just inside the Wild Basin side of Rocky Mountain National Park (right at the fee station) and running to Sandbeach Lake.

ROUTE
If done as an out/back it'll be just under 10 miles with about 2000 feet of gain, and it will take us around 2.5-3 hours. There are a few options to add on if you are looking for a little more. On the adventurous side you can add some off-trail stuff to Mt Orton or Keplinger Lake, or there is a connector trail over to the Meeker Park area.

CARPOOL / TRAILHEAD
Options:

  • North Foothills Trailhead (map) at 7:00am – At the intersection of Broadway and Hwy 36, head north on 36 a few hundred feet. Turn right onto the dirt road. Trailhead is a little ways down on your left.
  • Moxie Bread Co in Lyons (map) at 7:20am - 442 High Street, Lyons, CO

The trailhead is right at the fee station in the Wild Basin side of Rocky Mountain National Park. We should be at the trailhead before 8:00a.

Since we should be finishing at a reasonable hour, we'll try to get into the Mountain Meadow Cafe in Allenspark for breakfast.

CONSIDERATIONS
Dogs are NOT allowed in RMNP.
I recommend carpooling since the trailhead parking is limited.
A RMNP pass is required. We can try to carpool based on who has a pass.

REQUESTS
In the discussion below, please identify which carpool / trailhead option we can expect to see you. Also, indicate if you have a pass. I have one.

Lastly, we have BTRBC apparel for sale. Access the Trail Ambitions Store to purchase a t-shirt, hoodie, and/or hat!
