Run Crosier Mountain
Details
NOTE: Trailhead / start location change. See below.
For Saturday's run, we'll be heading to the Crosier Mountain Glen Haven Trailhead to do the Crosier Mountain from Glen Haven. Glen Haven is a little north of Estes Park.
ROUTE
The trail is 8 miles (4 up and 4 down), but does have 2300 feet of gain, in case you are worried about not getting a workout. For those of you not interested in pushing it, feel free to hike most of the up, and then run it down. It should take us around 3 hours.
For those of you that still want to keep your mileage up, there are several options to extend. There are technically 3 trails that start from different points and merge close to the top; therefore, I'd recommend starting with the group, then adding an out/back on one of the two other trails for whatever distance you are looking for.
DETAILS
Distance: 8.6 mi
Gain: 2,365 ft
Duration: About 2.5 - 3 hours.
CARPOOLS
The carpool options are as follows:
- North Foothills Trailhead · Sat, Oct 10 · 7:30 AM (Map) - Broadway St, Boulder, CO 80302
- Moxie Bread Co. - Lyons · Sat, Oct 10 · 7:50 AM (Map) - 442 High St, Lyons, CO 80540
Alternatively, you can meet us at the Crosier Mountain Rainbow Trailhead Trailhead (Map) at 8:30 AM .
CONSIDERATIONS
- Dogs: Yes on leash.
- Parking will be a little tricky since we are no longer able to park on the side of the road across from the trailhead. I will reach out to the Glen Haven General Store to see if they will allow us to use their parking lot. I'll add a comment below when I have more information. Regardless, please carpool as much as possible.
- In the discussion below, please identify which carpool option we can expect to see you. Come out, it should be a beautiful drive and run.
BREAKFAST
The Glen Haven General Store (website) is known for their cinnamon rolls and fudge, and they have extended hours this year, so they should be open this Saturday. We'll hang out there for a bit after the run. We can then decide if we want to head into Estes Park for breakfast, or just head home.
