RMNP: Ouzel Falls via Wild Basin Trail - 5.3 miles and 984 ft EG

Details
This is a beautiful out-and-back hike for waterfall fans in the Wild Basin area of Rocky Mountain National Park. We will meet at the Wild Basin Trailhead at 8:45 AM, so we won't need a timed entry permit for the park. (Timed entry starts at 9:00 AM.) We will hike along the North Saint Vrain Creek and pass Copeland Falls and Calypso Cascades on our way to Ouzel Falls.
The Wild Basin trailhead is in Rocky Mountain National Park and requires an entrance fee of 30$ unless you have an America the Beautiful pass. (For info on fees and passes check www.nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/fees.htm.) Please allow extra time at the entrance and to get to the trailhead, so we can start on time. You might have to wait in line, and you will have to drive 2.5 miles on a dirt road to the trailhead. We will wait no more than 10 minutes for late arrivals.
If you would like to carpool, please use the comment section for this hike to find others who might be interested in sharing a ride. The entrance fee is per vehicle and covers four adults.
Please bring layers, sun protection, water, a snack and spikes/crampons. It is still early in the season and there could be snow/ice on the trail once we get past Calypso Cascades.
Weather-related date changes or cancellations will be posted no later than 8:00 PM the day before the hike, so make sure you check for any updates.
By signing up for this hike you acknowledge that you participate at your own risk.
