Join a workshop to craft layered contrapuntal poetry with voices, weaving perspectives to deepen themes, ideal for poets seeking sharper, resonant work.

This contrapuntal poem workshop will focus on writing poems that are composed of two or more voices creating a layered effect. These poems offer a unique way to explore complex themes and emotions. Participants will learn to craft poems that can be read vertically, horizontally, or both, revealing different layers of meaning and engaging with the tension between the individual voices. Participants will engage in writing exercises designed to help them experiment with different techniques for weaving together multiple voices and perspectives.

Currently residing in Colorado, Julie Cummings is known for her contributions to the literary world through many facets. In addition to being the immediate Past President of Columbine Poets of Colorado and the standing President of the National Federation of State Poetry Societies, Ms. Cummings also facilitates and conducts workshops on various writing topics on a regular basis. Ms. Cummings' poems have been published in four anthologies over the course of the past several years. Additionally, her work is found in a local literary magazine, newspapers, as well as on the internet.
