Join us for an informative meetup with Peter McDonnell, New York Times best-selling author, Emmy-nominated producer, and award-winning Audible writer. This session will focus on writing for the ear of fiction and nonfiction audiobooks. Bonus information will be provided on how to produce and direct audiobook narration. There will be plenty of time for Q&A, so feel free to come prepared with your questions!
About Peter McDonnell
Peter is a New York Times bestselling author (Evil Has a Name, Audible), podcaster, and Emmy-nominated documentary producer (Pandemic, Netflix). He has received four “Best Listen of the Year” awards from Audible for the audiobooks Call Me God and The Riddle of Emmon Bodfish, as well as the podcasts Am I Dating a Serial Killer?! and Invisible. Peter is also the author and producer of the Audible Originals Brooklyn North, Miles to Go, Shootout, A Devil in the Valley, Criminal Network, Darkness of the World, and After the Fall. He is the executive producer and editor of the podcasts Out of Bounds, Midwest Monster, All the Gory Details, Talk to Me, and The Pinehurst Cure. In 2023, he founded Perfect Cadence Productions.
In 2024, Peter co-wrote and produced the Audible Original fiction audiobook Bluebeard, performed by Joseph Fiennes and Karen David. Bluebeard became a bestseller for Audible and reached #5 on the AP list of bestselling audiobooks in the US.
As a writer, Peter has covered crime, sports, social justice, history, adventure, and technology. His writing has appeared in Outside and The Washington Post. He has a BFA in theater from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and an MFA in fiction writing from Oregon State University, where he also taught writing.
