Are you registered for a spring trip, or curious about volunteering? This required orientation is one of the building blocks supporting safe and rewarding experiences on the trail. All are welcome to attend.

We will be meeting in the large conference/community room at REI in Bloomington, MN.

Event Schedule:
5:00 pm room opens, time to meet with leaders and ask questions
6:00 pm start of presentations
7:30 pm wrap up / Q & A

  • Who is the Boundary Waters Advisory Committee (BWAC)
  • Overview and history of the Powwow, Sioux-Hustler, Eagle Mountain, and Brule Lake trails we maintain in the BWCAW
  • I've registered - now what? The BWAC crew hike and gearing up
  • A day in the life of a trail volunteer
  • Intro to tools, safety on trail, at work, and in camp
  • Leave No Trace, BWCAW rules and regulations
  • BWAC specific gear, water treatment, and food storage
