DevOps Exchange @ JP Morgan Meetup Collider

The DevOps Exchange Bournemouth returns this September for its 5th instalment, a very special one hosted by JP Morgan.

Out of their state of the art tech centre in Bournemouth, we are delighted to be invited to part of their Collider event.

The event is bringing together a host of local groups spearheading growth across Agile/DevOps working across the South Coast. DOXMOUTH is one of 4 Meetups running on the same evening.

Peter Jupp and Andy Gilbert - Vice Presidents @ JP Morgan

Talk title: JPMorgan Bournemouth - Journey in DevOps

Synopsis: Our talk will cover our joint experiences on the DevOps journey at JPMC and in Bournemouth, how the site is evolving its DevOps footprint and our part in that transformation.

Andy Gilbert: 20 years with JPMorgan starting out in the operations world of Account Administration his career path has wandered through a series of roles from testing, business analysis and environment management to the present role as a Global Production Manager.

Peter Jupp: Experienced (some may say “old”) Developer who has worked for a number of industries over his career, latterly working at JPMC for about 20 years, building derivatives back-office processing services. Along with Andy, helping to raise awareness of DevOps in the Bournemouth hub.

Dhruv Ahuja - Founder @ Cyber Security Startup

Title: Multi-Layered Security in the Cloud

Synopsis: Given the frequency of data breaches of late, it is only right to discuss what has led to this pandemic and how we might protect our data from it. We will look at typical data exfiltration tactics and propose configurations for AWS S3 and VPC that would have provided additional layers of defense.

Bio: Dhruv Ahuja is the founder of Chaser Systems, a Deep Packet Inspection firewall company for the Cloud and IoT platforms. Previously, Dhruv has worked in the roles of SRE and DevOps, for multinational MSPs and financial institutions.

Remus Ilies - Platform Engineer @ Kingfisher

Talk Subject: Spiraling IT Budgets in the Enterprise

Synopsis: The curse of proprietary solutions in an open-source world. Although tech is evolving at an alarming pace, big businesses are haunted by the "old way of doing things". Old solution providers are dinosaurs that ruthlessly try to stay relevant, packaging obsolete tech in a pretty bow and tie and send an army of salespeople to spread their product/service out in the wild. The challenges of the IT department to fight against the past and implement the future.

Bio: Remus is an ex Sales Manager, following my passion for Linux, went into System Administration and climbed my way up the ladder into the DevOps world. Currently, I'm a Platform Engineer at Kingfisher, juggling a plethora of Cloud and On-Prem technologies.

How to find us

The event will be held on Monday, 9th September at JP Morgans Chaseside office, which is located at 1 Chaseside - Hampshire Bournemouth, BH7 7DA.

If you are driving, we have parking available, please tell the guards at the Littledown Entrance you are here for the Meetup Collider event, and they will direct you to the car park. We will have some of our volunteers wait for you at the car park to guide you to the reception.

If you are taking the bus, you can get off at the Littledown Centre Bus stop and then follow Google’s instructions to walk up to the reception (approx. 10 minutes).
