Details

Firstly a few gentle reminders:

  • dogs not allowed
  • if possible, please car share
  • we pride ourselves on working well together, and as an all inclusive group, expect consideration of others
  • please let the event host know prior to the start of the work party if you have to cancel, allowing someone on the waitlist to take your place.

Task:-
We will be parking at BC farmhouse but then walking over to the orchard next to the anchor pub. We are doing a meadow cut by scythe and strimmer as our contractor had pulled out of this one, and the machinery we use to cut when we have to has a puncture whilst cutting fire breaks on the heath. It means we need to begin cutting by scythe and strimmer in order to not miss our opportunity of dry weather. There will be a raking team that gathers the cuttings into neat lines for the following team to pitch fork onto a trailer to then be carted off to bishops court farm for composting.
Unfortunately, Sam will have to break away from the work party to show around a donor to some plantations that will be planted up and then meet the firemen coordinators up on the heath to discuss the plan for the unburnt section of heath.

Please remember to bring:

  • your own lunch and plenty of fluids (no alcohol)
  • stout shoes/boots, gloves, appropriate clothing for the weather
  • PPE just in case it's needed
  • your ICE (In Case of Emergency) card
