Sandhill Crane Watch, Breakfast, and a little hike

Friday, January 16, 2026, 7:00 a.m. central (8:00 a.m. eastern).
Lorie has again graciously invited us to her home near Barren River Lake to enjoy breakfast - everyone needs to bring a dish to share - while we watch the magnificent Sandhill Cranes fly out to glean in the nearby corn fields. After breakfast we'll walk over to an overlook where the cranes spend the night on Lorie's farm. if you like, we can drive around some country roads to spot them in the corn fields.
Everyone, please bring a breakfast dish to share. Coffee, hot teas, plates, and utensils will be furnished by the BGHC.
Bring binoculars.
Spots are limited so we ask you only sign up if you plan to be there.
Please dress appropriately for the weather; if it's cold, dress in layers and bring a hat and gloves. Wear your street shoes to breakfast and bring your muddy boots for the hike afterwards!
