Who doesn't like snakes and other creepy, crawling things??? Haha On this adventure we'll visit the Little Grand Canyon and Pamona Arch but the highlight will be hiking Snake Road while it's closed for the spring migration. It's located in the LaRue-Pine Hills area of the Shawnee National Forest. It's a unique ecological area famous for it's dramatic limestone bluffs, diverse habitats and "Snake Road" a seasonal migration route for numerous snakes and amphibians that is closed to vehicles in spring and fall to protect them.

I've made arrangements for us at a nearby private campground. There are no showers, composting toilets are available as well as water, electricity and a lighted professional Bocce Court for us to use in the evening. Feel free to make your own arrangements for accommodations if you don't want to camp. This is a very remote area but the campground has two wineries within walking distance which are both very nice. I anticipate the cost for camping to be $10 to $20 per person depending on how many of us camp. This is a poor campground for hammocks.

Total mileage for Friday and Saturday should be 5-6 miles each day and we may visit a few other places if time allows.

Not sure yet but depending on how everyone feels I'm thinking we may do a potluck or something on Friday or Saturday evening. More to come....

Feel free to message me with any questions or concerns.

Sorry again but no pets on this hike.

RSVP with integrity. If you RSVP'D "Yes" and discover you cannot go, please change your RSVP to "No" so others aren't standing around the parking waiting on you. Thanks!
