Exploring Our Spiritual Nature
Details
You are invited to a discussion of how our spiritual nature is expressed in our lives, both during ordinary activities and during extraordinary periods of great sorrow and joy.
For this session spiritual means seeking meaning, purpose, and a sense of connection to something larger than oneself. It often emphasizes personal consciousness, inner growth, and interconnectedness rather than material concerns. However, if you are more comfortable with a different definition you are free to describe and use it during the session.
N.B.: Caravan has membership outside of Meetup, so the total attendance may be higher than what appears in tersm of the Meetup RSVP.
Please be prepared to discuss the benefit, if any, of spiritual practices you may have employed during the course of your life.
The following quotes may stimulate thoughts and feelings on the topic.
“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” – Pierre Teilhard de Chardin (1881 – 1955), French Jesuit priest, paleontologist, philosopher, mystic, and teacher
“You are awareness disguised as a person” – Eckhart Tolle (1948 - ), German spiritual teacher and self-help author
“Before enlightenment, chop wood carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood carry water.” - Zen Proverb
Patricia will facilitate the session.
